OpenClaw Skill: Exchange Rates and Official Central Bank Rates for Agents
Install the AllRatesToday skill in OpenClaw and your agent fetches exchange rates instead of guessing them: the ECB daily table for any base currency, the official tables of 123 central banks and 4 tax authorities, and live mid-market rates with a free key.
openclaw skills install allratestoday and the agent stops guessing exchange rates.
Keyless by default; published on ClawHub, source on GitHub.

Or search from inside an agent session: openclaw skills search "exchange rates". Add --global
to share the skill across every local agent. The skill is MIT licensed and passed ClawHub's security review.
What the agent learns
- Never state a rate from memory. Fetch it and quote the date that comes back with it.
- Pick the right source. A price in another currency uses the latest table. An invoice, VAT return, customs entry or audit uses the table of the named institution. The two routinely differ by a percent or more.
- Read institution tables correctly. Each row means 1 base = value quote; direction varies by bank. Prefer
referencerows, thenmiddle, thenofficial, and averagebuy/sellonly as a last resort. Astaleflag means the institution has not published a fresh table. - Round to the target currency's minor unit and add the attribution link where rates are shown to others.
Endpoints the skill uses
| Request | Endpoint | Key |
|---|---|---|
| Convert an amount, price in another currency | GET /api/open/latest/{BASE} | none |
| Official table of a central bank or tax authority | GET /api/open/central-bank/{code} | none, non-commercial |
| Live mid-market, several targets | GET /api/v1/rates?source=USD&target=EUR,GBP | free key |
| Past dates, history series | paid-plan endpoints | paid key |
All requests go to https://allratestoday.com. The skill ships a reference file with every one of the
127 institution codes and worked response examples, so the agent does not
have to look codes up at run time.
Example
Ask the agent: “Convert 2,400 USD to EUR and tell me which table you used.” It fetches:
GET https://allratestoday.com/api/open/latest/USD
{"result":"success","base_code":"USD","date":"2026-10-29","rates":{"EUR":0.8985, ...}}
and answers with the converted amount, the ECB reference table and the date. Ask for “SAMA's official USD/SAR rate” and it fetches /api/open/central-bank/sama, picks the reference row and reports the publication date.
Optional API key
A free key unlocks live mid-market rates for 160+ currencies. The skill reads it from
ALLRATESTODAY_API_KEY and never prints it. On a 403 for history or dated tables it tells
the user the plan does not cover the request instead of guessing.
FAQ
What is OpenClaw?
OpenClaw is an open-source framework for AI agents that run on your own machine and act through tools. Skills are Markdown instructions the agent loads when a task matches; they live on the ClawHub registry.
Does the skill need an API key?
No. The ECB daily table for any base currency and the latest official table of every covered institution are keyless. A free key adds live mid-market rates for 160+ currencies; history and dated tables are on paid plans.
Why not let the agent answer from memory?
Every rate in a model’s training data is stale. The skill’s first rule is to fetch the rate and quote the date it came with, so a converted price or an invoice line is traceable to a published figure.
What is the difference from the MCP server?
The MCP server gives the agent typed tools over the Model Context Protocol. The OpenClaw skill teaches the agent to call the same HTTP endpoints with the web_fetch tool it already has, with no server to run. Use whichever your agent host supports.
Can a store or SaaS use the keyless central-bank tables?
The keyless institution tables are for personal and non-commercial use. Commercial use of official tables needs a paid plan. The keyless ECB table may be used commercially with a visible attribution link.
