What the plugin adds
- Currency Converter block. Amount, from and to currency, and a swap button. Without a key it uses the official European Central Bank reference rates, updated each working day. With a free API key it shows real-time rates for 160+ currencies.
- Official Exchange Rate block. One currency pair exactly as a central bank or tax authority published it, with the publication date. It covers 128 publishers, including the European Central Bank, Bank of England, Reserve Bank of India, Bank of Japan, Swiss National Bank, HMRC and the US Treasury.
- Two shortcodes for classic themes, widget areas and page builders.
- Light and dark themes, and scripts that load only on pages that use a widget.
What visitors see
These are the same two widgets the plugin renders, running live on this page. To see them inside WordPress, open the live preview: it starts a temporary WordPress site in your browser with the plugin installed and a sample page, with nothing to install or sign up for.

Data and privacy
Rates are not stored in WordPress. Each visitor's browser requests them from allratestoday.com when a page with a widget loads.
The request carries the currency codes and, for the official rate, the publisher code. If you save an API key, it is written into the page
so the browser can use it, which means visitors can see it. Leave the key empty to use the free ECB rates, or rotate the key from your
dashboard if needed. See the privacy policy.
FAQ
Is the plugin free?
Yes. The plugin is free and GPL licensed, and it works without an account. The free service asks for a visible "Exchange rates by AllRatesToday" credit link under each widget.
Do I need an API key?
No. Without a key the converter uses the European Central Bank reference rates, and the Official Exchange Rate block works for every covered publisher. A free API key gives the converter real-time rates for 160+ currencies.
Why is the widget not showing on my site?
Tick "Show the credit link" in Settings → AllRatesToday. WordPress.org does not allow a plugin to add a credit link on its own, so the widgets stay hidden from visitors until you agree to show it. Administrators see a note in its place.
Does it slow my site down?
The scripts load only on pages that contain a widget. Rates are requested by the visitor’s browser, so nothing is stored in your WordPress database and no cron job runs.
Does it work with classic themes and page builders?
Yes. Use the two shortcodes anywhere shortcodes are accepted: classic editor, widget areas and most page builders. Block themes can use the two blocks directly.
Can I use the official rate on invoices or tax pages?
The Official Exchange Rate block shows one currency pair exactly as the named central bank or tax authority published it, with its publication date. Check which publisher and date your own rules require.
Not on WordPress?
- Embeddable currency converter: one script tag or an iframe, for any website
- Official rates widget: a central bank rate with its publication date
- allratestoday-widget on npm: React, Vue and Astro components
