BRH Exchange Rate API: Official Haitian Gourde Rates as JSON

The Banque de la République d'Haïti publishes the official exchange rates that accounting, tax, and customs rules in Haiti reference — published official rates, not moving market prices. What the BRH publishes

• The daily taux de référence — a weighted average of the banking system's spot dollar transactions; 130.53 HTG per USD on 5 September 2026.
• Banking-market buying and selling rates alongside it (130.35 / 131.14 on the same day), stored as separate rate types.
• US dollar only — the one pair that matters in Haiti, where the dollar is the second everyday currency.
• Published on Saturdays too, and every response carries the bank's own date; Sundays resolve to Saturday's table and are flagged.

The BRH taux de référence is the legal reference for invoices, customs and tax in Haiti — a country where prices are routinely quoted in dollars and settled in gourdes, so the official conversion is a daily necessity rather than an accounting footnote.

Why official rates, not market rates

A live mid-market feed answers "what is USD/HTG trading at right now?" — the right tool for checkouts and dashboards. But accountants, auditors, and tax authorities ask a different question: "which rate were you required to use for this date?" That answer comes from the Banque de la République d'Haïti's published rates, and it never changes after publication.

Published vs derived pairs

If the BRH does not print a pair directly, the API resolves it from the bank's published rates — an inverse, or a cross rate via HTG — and flags it derived: true with the method used. Official and computed values are never silently mixed, which is exactly the distinction an auditor will ask about.

A fresh official series

The bank's archive is a monthly PDF, so our series accumulates from September 2026 forward — every published day's reference rate and banking-market buy/sell, stored with its date, building the queryable record Haitian filings can cite.
