Central Bank of Iraq Exchange Rate History, 2009–2026: Official USD/IQD Rates
For most of the last 17 years the Central Bank of Iraq's official dollar rate has not moved at all. It sat at 1,170 dinars from 2009 to 2012 and has changed only seven times since. Three of those changes were large: December 2020, February 2023 and, most recently, 7 October 2026, when the published reference rate went from 1,310 to 1,510 dinars per dollar. This article lists every change using the bank's own published tables: 3,881 of them, all in the AllRatesToday central-bank archive.
What this series is. The Central Bank of Iraq publishes one table per business day for 19 currencies in dinars per unit, with three columns: a buying rate, a reference rate and a selling rate. For the dollar these are 10 dinars apart (1,500 / 1,510 / 1,520 on 19 October 2026). The reference column is the official rate used below, and the one the API returns by default.

2009 to 2020: eleven years within two percent
From the start of the archive on 11 January 2009 until December 2020 the official rate never changed by more than 1.5% at a time. It was 1,170 dinars through 2012, 1,166 from January 2013, and then crept up in three small steps to 1,190 in May 2018, where it stayed for two and a half years.
20 December 2020: 1,460
The table for 17 December 2020 had 1,190. The next one, dated 20 December, had 1,460, a 22.7% devaluation and the largest single change in the series. The bank held 1,460 for just over two years.
8 February 2023: back to 1,310
On 8 February 2023 the bank revalued, moving the reference rate from 1,460 to 1,310. That level then held for three years and eight months, the longest unchanged stretch since the 1,170 years of 2009 to 2012.
7 October 2026: 1,510
The table for 6 October 2026 had 1,310. The table for 7 October had 1,510 in the reference column, 1,500 in the buying column and 1,520 in the selling column, the same 10-dinar spacing as before. Every table since has carried the same figures. The new level is consistent with other central banks' published tables: the Central Bank of Iran's table of 20 October 2026 prices the dollar at 1,832,816 rials and the dinar at 1,209.95 rials, which works out to about 1,515 dinars per dollar.
