Download Central Bank Exchange Rates
Official exchange rates from 83 central banks and 3 national tax authorities, downloadable as Excel (XLSX), CSV or JSON. Each file holds the rates the publisher itself printed, dated with its own publication date — the citable figures accounting, customs and audit work requires. File downloads are included in every paid plan: the latest table with one click, and history by date range (up to a year per file). The same latest tables are free to view on each source’s page.
Prefer code? The same tables are served by the central-bank rates API as JSON, CSV, XML and XLSX, with a dedicated npm SDK per bank.

What’s in the files
A latest-table file carries one row per currency the source most recently
published: base and quote currency, rate type (reference, buy/sell, middle
… as the publisher labels it), the value, and the publisher’s
rate_date. History files carry the same columns, one row per
currency per publication date across your range. Excel downloads are real
workbooks with typed dates and numbers — not renamed CSVs — and CSVs are
UTF-8 with a BOM so they open cleanly in Excel.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download central bank exchange rates as Excel or CSV?
Yes — every source above offers its latest published table as XLSX, CSV or JSON, included in every paid plan — no API key needed. Historical ranges download in the same formats, up to a year per file.
Are these official rates?
Every file contains the rates the named institution itself published, unmodified, with the publisher’s own publication date on each row.
How far back does history go?
It varies by publisher — the ECB reaches 1999, the SNB 1914, most sources at least 2016; each source’s linked page documents its depth. One year per file; repeat for longer spans.
Is there an API version?
Yes — see the central-bank rates API and docs; the tax-authority hub covers HMRC, the US Treasury and Swiss customs.
